Детские развивающие кружки PtitCREF Арбат

The perception of different cultures, broadening knowledge and communication skills in children - these are important parts of our activities.

Детские развивающие кружки PtitCREF Арбат

All children can join les p'tits plus workshops irrespective of whether they study at P’titCREF. You can join one, two or several themed groups. We offer various workshops, keeping a balance between creative, sports and informative activities. Either invited professionals or P’titCREF teachers teach the groups.

Tabletop games

Observe, analyse, memorise. Collective games help children develop logical thinking and strategy. Additional skills, such as logic, memory, cultural education, and often even common sense can be learned, all in a fun and friendly atmosphere.

There are many different collective games, some of which can be organised with the participation of several families. Card games can be played with either a standard deck or with special ones such as those used in games like Mafia, 7 Families, Mille Bornes, Uno, etc. Board games are played with cards or chips on special boards. The most well-known are chess, checkers, Battleship, etc. Strategic games like chess are aimed at gaining an advantage over an opponent. These are games where players need to think logically. Some games, like Mikado, require more adept gross motor skills. Others are aimed at the development of the imagination, like Imaginarium, a fun and interesting game.

Sometimes we will organise special contests where parents can participate and play together with the children.

The teacher of this class will be Tony, who has worked at P'titCREF since 2015.

Russian theatre

This class is taught by Kristina, a certified teacher and specialist in Russian folklore and Slavic traditions. Kristina has taught at P'titCREF since 2006.

The class is aimed at introducing Russian folk culture to children in a form of play through music, dance, games, celebrations, arts and crafts.

During classes, Kristina will show children different traditional musical instruments like the balalayka, wooden spoons, and rattles. They will learn simple songs and rhymes called "poteshki", learn more about traditions and celebrations, do simple articulation exercises, and learn to adjust on stage.  They will  rehearse plays based on traditional folk tales and act them out in front of an audience at the end of the trimester.

Skateboarding

Its techniques and culture will be taught by Johnny, a professional master of the skateboard who has worked with P'titCREF children since 2015.

The objectives of this course are: to learn the importance of safety above all else; to develop self-confidence; to learn the basic techniques of skateboarding: how to brake, stop and control speed, steer, turn, turn on the spot, jump; to learn and appreciate the culture of skateboarding: respect other riders in the skate park and understand where their trajectories will take them, choose riding spaces appropriate for one's level, know skateboarding terms.

Our teacher of skateboarding is happy to present his course: "Hi ! My name is Johnny Eagle. I am on skateboard for 14 years now 6 years of which I teach youngsters basic skateboarding tricks on different types of boards. I am also a surfer and a snowboarder and therefore I like to unite all three types of activities on one board, the one that I have here and now. I love boards with all my soul. Boards make me happy and happiness is only real when shared."

Scratch from Robolab

The ROBOLAB programme is one of the best programmes for children in the world, based on fun activities, practical exercises, and experimental research.  Our centre will be debuting courses in the creation of toys using Scratch Software proposed by ROBOLAB Kids.  The purpose of this workshop is to allow its participants to develop their ability to understand algorithms, to learn to perceive the conditions of the problem in creating an algorithm, to awaken their desire to experiment, to make and test hypotheses, and to know how to learn from their mistakes.  The course provides a child with the basics to create his/her own project.  The children will learn how to use Scratch and how to build their own scripts by blocks.  They will discover the concept of an algorithm, its forms and possibilities, and they will take ownership of complex algorithmic constructions.

Arts and Crafts

Children will acquire artistic skills under the supervision of Anna, a professional artist and teacher. She has worked at P'titCREF since 2014.
Objectives: to develop creativity; to refine fine motor skills and sensory perception; to learn how to work with recycled materials; to participate in the creation of original work and creative games; to share experiences and impressions with other children.
Every month, children will work on a different discipline. Children will use recycled materials during pottery, art, and watercolour classes.

Little Chefs

This class is taught by Noemie (in P'titCREF since 2014) and Perrine (in P'titCREF since 2016) in French.

This class is not only aimed at developing taste perception. Children will work with recipes adapted for their age in which events of the year ("Week of Taste", Pancake Day, an Easter cake) will take place. They will cook, taste, and learn how to eat properly with the help of a nutrition pyramid.

The pedagogical purpose of this class is connected with the development of taste and aims to: enrich the lexicon of the child; master new abilities and technologies; develop motility; master new mathematical concepts: order and standard; develop language skills.

The class will teach children to share: after all, they will not only taste, but also cook for others!

class will teach children to share: after all, they will not only taste, but also to treat others!

Ballet

Anastasia has taught the Ballet Class at P'titCREF since 2015. Through fun games, children learn difficult moves that expose their talents and abilities. Children learn rhythmics, do exercises on flexibility and muscle memory, and learn to express their emotions with the help of music and acting.

The young pre-school age is one of the most important periods. These are years crucial for the foundation of health, the physical and personal development of a child, years of intensive development when movement and music become a necessity. Classical choreography is the most emotionally accessible way.

Classes for children from the age of 2 include strengthening abdominal and back muscles, stretching, exercises, musical rhythm, and, of course, learning dance moves. Movement in tempo contributes to the rhythmic work of all internal organs and systems, which, with regular lessons, leads to a general improvement of the body. The therapeutic effect of classes is also important: a muscular core is created, defects in posture are corrected, flatfootedness is reduced, etc.

Give the child a good start for life, lay the foundation for comprehensive harmonious development and the correct formation of the body, develop flexibility and coordination, proper posture and good manners, liberate and creatively enrich the little person. Teach him or her to overcome difficulties! That's what ballet lessons are.

Modern Dance

The basics of modern dance will be taught be Editha, a professional actress and dancer.

Children will learn new creative moves, as well as how to improvise, becoming freer and more graceful. They will learn how to feel the rhythm, to differentiate between different styles of music, and to create their own original dance moves to the music.

Objectives of this class: learning to concentrate, learning to enjoy physical activity, learning to orient in space. Karate classes help to stay fit and self-confident. The program is designed for children 3 to 5 years old. Children will learn different aspects of karate, learn to follow the rules, respect their friends. Children will train their memory memorising different moves. Children's energy will take a constructive form thanks to training.

Football

Children will learn to play foot ball with Alexandr, a professional football coach. We have been offering football sessions since 2013.

Children are active creatures who need to play. The teacher will try to avoid direct "dont's" during games. However little players will have to follow the rules of the game and the rules of how to behave.

These are very enthusiastic sessions when football players acquire new good habits, demonstrate a serious attitude, develop skills useful not only in football games but also in everyday life such as: self-respect, respect of one's partners, respect of an opponent, following of the rules, following instructions, enjoying physical activity, effectiveness, etc.

Design

Children will acquire artistic skills under the supervision of Anna, a professional artist and teacher. She has worked at P'titCREF since 2014.
Objectives: to develop creativity; to refine fine motor skills and sensory perception; to learn how to work with recycled materials; to participate in the creation of original work and creative games; to share experiences and impressions with other children.

Classes will vary each month: children will learn textile design, graphic design, furniture design, accessory design, etc.

MUSIC (Karl Orff Method)

Our music workshop follows the method of Carl Orff.  It is led by Kristina, a certified teacher and specialist in Russian folklore and Slavic traditions, who has worked at P’titCREF since 2006.  The Orff Method is based on the teacher leading the student towards improvisation and creation.  Like Freud and Wallon, Orff believed that there is an inherent development of a child’s psyche, which important moments and social context can evolve but never fundamentally change.

The educator then becomes a guide who inspires models that the student - with the educator’s help - will evolve. The process of this workshop is divided into four parts:

  • Contact favouring sensory exercises;

  • Imitation which, with repetition, develops concentration and perception;

  • With work and practice, the child adapts the models by manipulating and varying them in order to achieve...

  • Improvisation, when the child uses his or her new knowledge, makes choices, invents but also plays, and composes with the group.

Architectural Games

The basic idea of this workshop is to introduce children to architecture, but it won't stop just there. Children will construct a new world, design new space. The class will consist of two parts: a construction session and a game session. For example, children can build a cardboard city during the first session, and then play a role game in this newly built city during the second session.

This class is aimed at the development of imagination, at getting to know urban space and architecture, and at using different construction materials. Children will learn about urban landscapes, and create their own environment with original inhabitants.
Besides the construction itself, children will have plenty of time to play in class, imagining this new world and creating its new elements.
There will be individual and collective construction projects. Children will be actors and at the same time, directors of these projects.
The instructor for this class will be Maxim, who has worked at P'titCREF since 2015.

Visual Arts

In this class children will get to know traditional and modern digital pieces of visual arts. There will be a new theme each week: Photography (film and digital), Video Art, Computer Art, Animation (different techniques).

Once a month Anna and Maxim will organise a great quest for children. We plan treasure hunt, history quest,  будут организовывать большой квест для детей, на самые разные темы: поиск сокровищ, исторический квест, detective investigation and more. Three hours indoors and outdoors children will play, solve mysteries, do craftwork. We open a unique play space for children 3 to 10 years old! Anna and Maxim work together with us since 2014.

French Theater on Saturdays

Once a month children will learn about theater techniques with Loic and Damien, our French teachers and professional actors. Children will play in class, learn to control their bodies, gestures and mimics, improvise. Kids will learn more about puppet theater, French mimics theater, street plays. We also plan to take them behind the curtains of Pushkin Theater.
