Maslenitsa!

Maslenitsa!

This week we will celebrate a merry holiday of Maslenitsa!
The dates of Maslenitsa change every year according to the beginning of the Orthodox Great Lent. The most important traditions during Maslenitsa are eating pancakes (blinis), making and then burning a brightly dressed straw effigy of Maslenitsa, sledding, and various outdoor activities and merrymaking.
This year Maslenitsa will take place on the 24th of February for Toddlers and on the 26th of February for other groups.
Teachers prepared a wonderful program for children with games, song-singing, and dancing. Kids will also do some Maslenitsa related crafts, decorate and eat pancakes, listen to Russian fairy-tales.
