The Farm Day

The Farm Day

On Tuesday, the 28th of April children will all visit a real farm situated on the playground of 22. We will have special guests among which there will be a goat, a sheep, rabbits, pony and a pig. We will also have ducks, chickens, geese and a turkey. All groups will take turns in seeing the animals to feed and pat them.
We encourage parents to dress up their children as farm animals. Costumes and masks add so much fun to the event!
The farm is a fun and important topic that starts next week. It's fun to learn about and act out the animals, as well as it allows the children to learn about animal life.
For the older levels, it is important to start to understand where our food comes from. Understanding the origins of food is an important first step to understanding ecology, social issues, and the need for conservation in later grades.
During the farm theme, we will explore different aspects of the farm, including for the youngest:
-Landscapes (country vs. City)
-Farm animals
-Buildings (henhouse, ...)
-Vehicles (tractor)
-Reproduction (animal babies)
-Farm work and the seasons
For Senior and Prep, we will also explore:
-Food growth and sequence
-Food origins - what animals do we eat?
-Animal classification (mammals, birds)
-Ecology
-Why we need farms.
